2022 WR would be a solid addition for LSU Football
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is one of many programs pursuing a 2022 four-star wide receiver from Texas.
LSU football has made the state of Texas a priority when it comes to recruiting, so it’s no surprise they’re one of the programs pursuing a 2022 four-star wide receiver from the Lonestar state.
Caleb Burton, 6-foot/165 lbs from Del Valle, TX (Del Valle), is rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 player in the state of Texas and the No. 6 wide receiver in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 37 overall recruit in the nation.
Burton has notable offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Stanford, among several others.
The Texas native is described by 247Sports midland region recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks as a player who “gets off the line quickly and on top of corners in a hurry” and “shows impressive burst and acceleration”.
Brooks also notes that Burton is “dangerous in catch-and-run situations”
Is LSU football a threat for the dynamic wide receiver?
For now, it appears that Ohio State, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Stanford are out front for Burton.
The dynamic wide receiver told Rivals this week that he hopes to visit Ohio State and Clemson when the recruiting dead period ends (the recruiting dead period currently runs through August 31).
(It should be noted that Clemson hasn’t offered Burton yet, but they haven’t offered any 2022 wide receivers yet.)
While LSU might not be currently among the favorites for Burton, that doesn’t mean they won’t be.
Burton visited the Tigers early during the process and they’re still in the mix. But as we get closer to the conclusion of the 2022 recruiting cycle, it wouldn’t surprise me to see LSU become a major factor for the four-star wide receiver from Texas.
LSU currently has five players committed to its 2022 recruiting class.
