LSU Football: Tigers among top schools for elite offensive lineman
By Zach Ragan
LSU football appears to be one of the teams to beat for an elite offensive lineman.
2022 four-star offensive lineman Lucas Taylor is set to be one of the top guards in the nation and LSU football is squarely in the mix to land him.
Taylor, 6-foot-5/328 lbs from Mobile, AL (St Pauls Episcopal), is rated by 247Sports as the No. 10 player in the state of Alabama and the No. 5 offensive guard in the nation.
The talented offensive lineman recently spoke to Rivals about his recruitment and discussed the programs at the top of his list.
“LSU, Texas A&M, and Auburn are definitely up there for me right now,” said Taylor.
Taylor added “Coach Cregg at LSU is great and he really knows how to coach guys up and get them to the NFL. They are building something special at LSU”.
There’s no doubt LSU is building something special. The 2019 season wasn’t an anomaly — there will be more dominant seasons on the horizon for the Tigers (though we may never again see that kind of domination from LSU or any program).
When could LSU football receive a commitment?
If Taylor decides LSU is the place for him, a decision would likely come before his senior season.
“I am pretty sure I will be committed by next summer. I want to go into my senior year committed and not have to worry about recruiting,” explained Taylor to Rivals.
It’s all going to come down to what feels like home for Taylor. He’s already visited Baton Rouge, but he wants to get back for a “full game experience”.
For now, it’s unclear when visits will resume (the recruiting dead period currently runs through August 31). It’s also unclear what kind of game experience there will be this fall (thanks to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic).
Either way, I like the Tigers’ chances here. LSU is becoming the premier destination for top-rated recruits that want to get to the NFL.
