LSU 46 Alabama 41 — November 9, 2019

This is the game where I feel like folks realized LSU was truly on the brink of something special.

The Tigers were on a roll by this point in the season, but it was the win in Tuscaloosa, two weeks after narrowly beating Auburn, that solidified LSU as the favorite to win the national championship.

Up until this point, it seems like analysts/opposing fans were still on the fence about Ed Orgeron and the Tigers.

Was LSU really that good? Or had they just managed to catch other programs at the right time?

The offensive explosion against Alabama (it was the first game in 2019 that Alabama had allowed more than 31 points) proved that LSU was college football’s best team.

Of course, while everyone was amazed at the Tigers’ win, Joe Burrow was hardly impressed.

“We’ve got three more regular-season ones and the SEC championship. This was never our goal. We’ve got bigger goals than this,” said Burrow after the game (via ESPN).
