LSU 37 Georgia 10 — December 7, 2019

Winning the SEC is akin to winning the national championship. It’s the second-highest pinnacle in college football, behind the national championship.

So when LSU knocked off Georgia to win the conference this past season, it essentially put the Tigers within one step of their ultimate goal.

Sure, they still had to be Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff. But beating their conference rival was a much taller task (as we saw by the way the Tigers dismantled the Sooners in the playoff).

The Bulldogs were a playoff-caliber team. They were one of the best teams LSU played all season.

And the Tigers smoked them in the SEC championship game.

LSU’s domination in the conference championship game tends to get lost in the shuffle, but it was an important part of the Tigers’ championship run in 2019.
