LSU football commit trying to flip Ohio State commit to Tigers
By Zach Ragan
One of LSU football’s best recruiting tools might be a current commit.
2022 four-star wide receiver Decoldest Crawford, who committed to LSU football last October, won’t play college football for another two years, but he’s already working hard to make the Tigers a better football team.
Crawford recently spoke with Rivals about his commitment to LSU and he made it clear that he’s trying to bring top talent with him to the Baton Rouge.
The Louisana native, who is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 35 wide receiver in the nation, told Rivals that he speaks with players in his class “every day”.
One of those players is 2022 four-star cornerback Jyaire Brown, an Ohio State commit who is rated as the No. 14 cornerback in the nation.
“I know he’s committed to Ohio State right now, but I hope he ends up in Baton Rouge,” said Crawford.
LSU football could have a legit shot at flipping Brown
Brown, who committed to Ohio State in late April, was born in Ohio, but he moved to New Orleans as a kid. The elite cornerback grew up as an avid Ohio State fan, which isn’t a surprise since he has quite a bit of family in the area.
If anyone can work the New Orleans connection to their advantage, it’s Ed Orgeron.
But unfortunately for LSU, this will be an uphill battle. Brown recently transferred to Lakota West in West Chester, OH, which could make it tough for the Tigers to flip the talented defensive back.
The one thing working in LSU’s favor is that Brown is a 2022 recruit, which means the Tigers have plenty of time to get Brown to Baton Rouge for an official visit.
Coach O knows a thing or two about convincing an Ohio native to come to LSU (looking at you, Joe Burrow). Who’s to say he can’t do it again with Brown?
