Former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow is going to have a massive impact on the Cincinnati Bengals’ offense.

LSU football‘s Joe Burrow was selected with the first pick of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals because the franchise feels like he’s the player that can help the team become a contender.

After what Burrow accomplished at LSU in 2019, I’d say it’s fair to assume that the former Tiger will be able to get the Bengals back to the playoffs.

Burrow will make Cincinnati better in a lot of ways. He’s obviously a skilled quarterback that has the potential to put up massive numbers. But the biggest impact he’ll likely have is his ability to make the players around him better.

One of those players is wide receiver John Ross.

Cincinnati will get to see the Joe Burrow effect

Ross was selected by the Bengals in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft after running a ridiculous 4.22 in the 40-yard dash.

Unfortunately for Cincinnati, Ross has yet to live up to the combine hype.

Ross has had a minimal impact on the Bengals’ offense so far, catching 49 passes for 716 yards and 10 touchdowns over his first three seasons in the league.

But that could change with Burrow under center.

According to various reports, Burrow and Ross have worked out “multiple times” together since the draft.

I’d say this is great news for the Bengals. First off, this means that the chemistry between Burrow and Ross will be in a good spot when the season eventually gets underway (which is a massive deal, considering the lack of mini-camps this offseason).

Also, I think we’ll see a determined Ross in 2020. The Bengals declined his fifth-year option, which means Ross will be a free agent after the 2020 season, so he has a lot to prove this season.

I wouldn’t be shocked to see Ross break out in a major way this season. And if he does, maybe the Bengals will have a decision to make. If Burrow wants to continue playing with Ross, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Cincinnati make a move to keep Ross on the roster.
