LSU football appears to be the team to beat for an elite four-star defensive back from Georgia.

LSU football is one of several programs still in the mix to land 2021 four-star defensive back Nataniel Wiggins.

The Tigers, along with Florida, Oregon, and USC, are the finalists for the Wiggins.

LSU, however, appears to be the team to beat.

Shea Dixon, who covers the Tigers for 247Sports, recently made a crystal ball prediction for Wiggins to LSU.

“We will see how the cards fall over the next three weeks leading up to his announcement. But there’s good reason for LSU to feel like they are the team to beat headed into the home stretch,” wrote Dixon.

The Georgia native is expected to announce his decision on August 28.

What would LSU football get in Wiggins?

Wiggins, 6-foot-2/170 lbs from Atlanta, GA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 8 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 8 cornerback in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 68 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins says Wiggins is “a smooth athlete” and is “very skillful and uses his long 6-2 frame to win jump ball battles on both sides of the ball”.

Biggins also notes that Wiggins “has a lean frame with more of a corner frame but could grow into a rangy safety where his cover skills would be very effective in coverage”.

According to Biggins, the NFL comparison for Wiggins is former Clemson cornerback AJ Terrell, who was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.
