LSU football could reap some benefits from the Big 10’s decision to not play this fall.

The Big 10 will not play college football this fall, but for now, LSU football and the SEC are planning to play.

The decision by the Big 10 could have a lot of ramifications — specifically in the recruiting world.

And one of those ramifications could benefit the Tigers.

2022 four-star defensive back Jyaire Brown (the No. 14 2022 cornerback in the nation in 247Sports’ composite rankings) committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes in late April.

But will the Buckeyes be able to hold onto him without playing in 2020?

LSU football could steal Brown from Ohio State

There’s obviously going to be a lot of recruiting fallout from the Big 10’s decision to not play this fall. SEC coaches will undoubtedly use the decision to sway recruits to the SEC. And in some instances, it will probably work.

Brown, specifically, could be a top target for LSU.

The dynamic cornerback is from Ohio, but he moved to New Orleans as a kid (before recently moving back to Ohio). Brown grew up as a Buckeyes fan, but he has a strong Louisiana connection.

2022 Tigers commit Decoldest Crawford, a four-star wide receiver, told Rivals last month that he’s working hard to flip Brown from Ohio State to LSU.

The fact that Ohio State isn’t playing this fall and LSU is playing (or at least planning to play) should aid Crawford’s attempt to flip Brown.

If the Tigers could get Brown to campus for a game it would be huge. But unfortunately, even if football happens, it seems highly unlikely that recruiting visits will be allowed to happen this fall.

LSU has the right approach toward playing in 2020. dark. Next

But even without a visit, simply seeing the Tigers play this fall could be all Brown needs to decide Baton Rouge is a better place to be than Columbus.
