LSU Football: Elite 2022 linebacker plans to visit Tigers
By Zach Ragan
LSU football could be receiving a visit from an elite 2022 linebacker.
2022 four-star outside linebacker Moses Walker is hoping to take some visits soon and LSU football is on the lists of places he’d like to check out.
Walker told Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Friedman this week that his recruitment has been heating up recently. Walker mentioned that he wants to visit LSU, Texas, and UCLA.
“I’m trying to go to see LSU and UCLA either in person or for a virtual visit. I’m also trying to see Texas,” said Walker.
Obviously an in-person visit would be more beneficial, but Walker is well aware that a virtual visit might have to suffice — at least for the time being.
The NCAA recruiting dead period currently runs through the end of August. It’s expected to be extended through the end of September.
With the recent decisions by the Big 10 and the Pac 12 to cancel their fall seasons, it’s extremely likely that recruiting visits won’t be allowed until 2021 at the earliest.
In other words, recruiting for the next several months, including both 2021 signing periods, is going to be a complete mess. I’m sure we’ll see lots of recruiting changes, albeit temporary, in the coming months.
Fortunately for Walker, he’s a 2022 recruit, which means he should still get a chance to visit the programs on his list, including LSU.
What would Walker bring to LSU football?
Walker, 6-foot-2/195 lbs from Brooklyn, NY (Erasmus Hall), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 player in the state of New York and the No. 9 outside linebacker in the nation.
247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn says Walker is an “effective blitzer off [the] edge” and “has leadership skills”.
Dohn also notes that Walker “diagnosis plays quickly” and “runs well and can chase plays to sideline”.
LSU currently has six players committed to its 2022 recruiting class.
