LSU football landed a key 2022 commit on Wednesday.

2022 four-star defensive tackle Shone Washington announced his commitment to LSU football on Wednesday, choosing the Tigers over Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, among many others.

Washington, 6-foot-3/297 lbs from New Orleans, LA (Warren Easton), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 11 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 18 defensive tackle in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 212 overall 2022 recruit in the nation.

The Louisiana native told Rivals that he committed to LSU because it was his dream school.

“It feels great because LSU has always been my dream school and I’ll still be close to home so my family will be able to come to all my games,” said Washington.

LSU football’s latest commit has big goals

Tigers fans should love Washington because he’s coming to Baton Rouge to accomplish three very specific goals.

Washington wants to be the best at his position, win a national championship, and develop into a first-round pick.

“In football, I want to be the best 3-technique in college and win a natty for my school, win the Outland and Nagurski trophies and be a first-round pick,” said Washington to Rivals.

Those are certainly great goals to have. And if he accomplishes all three of those goals, he’ll undoubtedly become a fan favorite at LSU.

There’s also no doubt that Washington chose the right program to attend to accomplish those goals. The Tigers proved last year they can win national championships. They also proved they can get plenty of players to the NFL (14 players selected in the 2020 NFL Draft).
