One analyst is expecting LSU football to make an addition to their 2021 recruiting class in the not-so-distant future.
2021 four-star cornerback Nathaniel Wiggins, 6-foot-2/170 lbs from Atlanta, GA (Westlake), is expected to announce his commitment in the coming weeks and one analyst believes LSU football is the team to beat.
Shea Dixon, who covers the Tigers for 247Sports, reiterated this week that his “247Sports crystal ball prediction” has LSU landing the talented cornerback.
“My Crystal Ball remains on LSU with two weeks to go,” wrote Dixon.
Alabama, Florida, Oregon, and USC are the other programs strongly in the mix to land Wiggins.
The Georgia native discussed his recruitment last month with Rivals and he wasn’t willing to tip his hand.
“I have been talking to coaches from a lot of schools, and I am just staying open without a top school until I commit,” said Wiggins.
While it’s encouraging that Dixon is feeling optimistic about the Tigers’ chances of landing Wiggins, it wouldn’t be surprising if one of the other programs mentioned swoops in and lands the four-star defensive back.
What would LSU football get in Wiggins?
Wiggins is rated in by 247Sports as the No. 8 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 6 cornerback in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 68 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.
(Side note: it’s a bit surprising that Georgia isn’t more involved in Wiggins’ recruitment.)
247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins says Wiggins is “a high end prospect at receiver, corner and safety” and “shows good ball awareness and ball skills”.
Biggins also notes that Wiggins “shows high end instincts and a natural feel for the corner position” and “projects as an impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future mid round NFL draft pick”.
LSU currently has 16 players committed to its 2021 recruiting class.
