Former LSU football standout Thaddeus Moss received some bad news this week.

Former LSU football tight end Thaddeus Moss wasn’t selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he was quickly signed by the Washington Football Team.

Well, unfortunately for Moss, his time with Washington has come to an end.

Moss was waived this week with an injury designation.

This isn’t a complete surprise. Despite Moss’s talent, and famous last name (his dad is Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss), he was a longshot to make Washington’s 53-man roster. That’s mostly due to the fact that Moss had surgery on a fractured foot earlier this winter.

A history of injury issues for the former LSU football tight end

Moss has a history of foot issues, which likely scared some teams off during the draft (his pre-draft physical revealed the need for surgery).

The former Tigers tight end missed the entire 2018 season, after transferring to LSU, due to a foot injury that was described as “lingering” at the time.

“Sometimes he practices feels better. It’s a lingering injury. When it comes to game time, (he) doesn’t feel like he’s full speed, stuff like that. It’s something that he’s not completely healed,” said LSU head coach Ed Orgeron in 2018 (via 247Sports).

Moss was able to recover and play in 12 games for the Tigers in 2019, catching 47 passes for 570 yards and four touchdowns.

dark. Next. Ed Orgeron's quote should excite fans

If Moss is able to get healthy, I imagine other teams will be willing to give him a shot (the New England Patriots showed interest after the draft). Quality tight ends aren’t easy to find and Moss certainly has the talent to make it in the NFL.
