LSU football is in the mix for two of the nation’s top-rated 2021 recruits.

LSU football is one of the programs that have a legitimate shot at landing the five-star duo of Maason Smith and Korey Foreman.

Smith, a 6-foot-5/316 lb defensive tackle from Houma, LA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 19 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

Foreman, a 6-foot-4/265 lb defensive end from Corona, CA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

The elite defensive line duo has developed a close friendship on the recruiting trail. So close, in fact, that they’d prefer to play together in college.

If they’re truly intent on playing with each other, then LSU will be a serious threat to land the duo (The Tigers are the perceived favorite for Smith).

But first, LSU needs to get Foreman on campus. That’s difficult right now because the NCAA has shut down visits for the immediate future. It’s unclear when those visits will be allowed to resume. And with the Big 10 and Pac-12 not playing this fall, it seems unlikely that visits will resume in 2020.

Unsanctioned visits, however, can’t be stopped. Recruits can show up to campus and check things out. They just can’t be allowed in buildings or have contact with the coaching staff.

And those visits are most definitely already happening.

Could LSU football get a visit from Smith and Foreman?

According to a report from 247Sports, Smith and Foreman took one of those unsanctioned visits together to Georgia this past weekend.

With LSU firmly in the mix for both players, it seems highly likely that the Tigers will receive a similar visit from Smith and Foreman.

Smith, of course, has been to LSU plenty. Foreman, however, has yet to visit Baton Rouge.

But according to 247Sports, Foreman is in all online classes this fall and plans to graduate in December. That means it will be easy for him to make the trip from California to Louisiana at any point this fall.

If LSU is able to get Foreman on campus, even for an unsanctioned visit, it could be all the Tigers need to land the elite duo.

Next. LSU still developing into the team it wants to be under Coach O. dark

And if that happens, then I feel bad for the rest of the SEC. The Tigers are already loaded with talent. Adding two more five-star defensive linemen almost wouldn’t be fair.
