It’s time for LSU basketball to part ways with head coach Will Wade.

LSU basketball head coach Will Wade managed to keep his job in 2019 after reports surfaced that he had worked with Christian Dawkins, a former runner for an NBA agent, to pay players.

Wade was suspended for a month, before being reinstated with an amended contract.

I was skeptical in 2019 that Wade would keep his job when he was initially suspended. And I didn’t really know how to feel about it once he was reinstated (especially after the HBO documentary this past spring and the comments Wade made about a “strong ass offer”).

But with new allegations that Wade offered or arranged payments to 11 potential recruits now surfacing, I think it’s time for the Tigers to move on from their head basketball coach.

LSU basketball has an easy decision to make.

ESPN reported on Wednesday morning that Wade “either arranged for or offered ‘impermissible payments’ to at least 11 potential recruits or others around them”.

According to ESPN, the NCAA has requested that the case involving Wade and LSU’s basketball program be “adjudicated through the Independent Accountability Resolution Process”.

At this point, I just don’t see how Wade can keep his job. And I think LSU needs to make the move to fire Wade before the NCAA makes the decision for them.

There’s just no way Wade is going to be the Tigers’ basketball coach longterm. There’s too much smoke around him.

Eventually, it’s going to hurt LSU in recruiting. I’m sure other programs are already pointing out potential NCAA sanctions that could hit the Tigers in the not-so-distant future.

LSU is going to suffer because of Wade’s actions. But if they go ahead and move on from Wade now, perhaps they can limit the damage.

It’s not a good situation for the Tigers to be in. And it certainly makes me wonder if LSU didn’t make things worse by letting Wade keep his job in 2019. That could certianly be a decision that comes back to haunt the Tigers.
