LSU football is hoping to land a commitment from a 2022 linebacker from Texas.

LSU football, along with a litany of other programs, is hoping to land a commitment from 2022 outside linebacker Harold Perkins.

Perkins, 6-foot-3/200 lbs from Cypress, TX (Cy Park), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the 15 outside linebacker in the nation and the No. 26 player in the state of Texas. He’s also rated as the No. 170 overall 2022 recruit in the nation.

Auburn, Baylor, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M are among the programs also pursuing Perkins.

The potentially elite linebacker recently spoke to Rivals about his recruitment and he revealed that LSU may have the inside track to landing his commitment.

“I’m from New Orleans so I have a different respect and feel for LSU than most people. Coach O is a great dude and he always wants to make time to talk about twice a week,” said Perkins.

The four-star linebacker added, “LSU’s recruitment of me has to be different from everyone else’s. Since a little boy, I (have held) them to a different standard with or without a championship. Louisiana is my birthplace so LSU has the an opportunity to make it my home.”

Ed Orgeron excels recruiting in-state players for LSU football

Perkins isn’t technically considered an in-state player since he lives and plays in Texas. But the fact that he’s from New Orleans is close enough.

And let’s be honest — there’s no coach in college football better at securing in-state talent that Ed Orgeron.

If Perkins truly holds LSU to a higher standard, then he’s not going to be disappointed once he hits the Tigers up for an official visit. LSU will be everything he dreamed of an more.

Perkins is a 2022 recruit, so there’s still a long way to go in his recruitment. But I’d be very surprised if LSU doesn’t prevail in this recruiting battle.
