LSU football will kick off the 2020 season against Mississippi State on September 26.

The 2020 season is going to be a strange one for LSU football and the rest of the SEC.

Instead of the season starting in early September, it will start in late September. There will be no non-conference games, instead, the SEC will play a ten-game conference only schedule.

Then there’s how the actual games will look. There will be a limited amount of fans able to attend most games (some games can/will have no fans). No bands will be allowed on the field. Media access will be limited. It’s going to be different from anything we’ve ever seen before in college football.

However, there will be SEC football. There will be games played (as of now). And there will be winners and losers.

LSU football favored to win its opener

Fan Duel released their betting lines this week (via 247Sports) and it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that the Tigers are favored to win their opener against Mississippi State. The line for the game has been set at LSU -16 according to Fan Duel.

This feels about right. And I like LSU to cover, but not by a lot.

LSU will be breaking in a new defense (led by new defensive coordinator Bo Pelini), so there could be some hiccups.

On the flip side, though, the Bulldogs will be playing their first game under new head coach Mike Leach.

Leach’s offenses are known for being high powered. But I’m not sure how much we should expect from Mississippi State in their first game (especially with the weird offseason).

This isn’t a game that I think LSU is in danger of losing, but it could certainly get close to the spread.

Next. LSU has work to do to land 4-star DT. dark

Ultimately, however, I think LSU’s offense, even without Ja’Marr Chase, will be way too much for the Bulldogs to contain.
