LSU Football: Tigers true freshman now has a chance to shine in 2020
By Zach Ragan
LSU football’s depth chart took a hit on Sunday.
LSU football reportedly won’t have star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase in 2020, which means there will be a major opportunity for a young player hoping to make an impact.
With Chase likely not playing, it means that junior Terrace Marshall Jr and senior Racey McMath each will move up a spot on the Tigers’ depth chart in 2020.
Marshall will take over the role of the “go-to guy”, while McMath will slide into the No. 2 role.
So who will now be LSU’s No. 3 wide receiver?
The first instinct is to suggest that it will be Kayshon Boutte, a five-star wide receiver out of high school who was one of LSU’s highest rated signees in 2020.
But it could actually be another true freshman that ends up benefitting the most from Chase not playing in 2020.
Which true freshman will step up for LSU football in 2020.
Boutte certainly has the talent to be a star player in the SEC, but it could be four-star wide receiver Koy Moore who ends up taking over the No. 3 role for LSU in 2020.
Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron recently discussed his true freshmen wide receivers with reporters and it was Moore that he pointed out as being impressive.
“The guy I’m really impressed with is (Koy) Moore. He’s done a great job. From Rummel High School, I think he’s going to have an excellent freshman year,” said Coach O during a virtual media session with reporters.
A lot can obviously change between now and the start of the season. But it certainly sounds like Orgeron loves what he sees from Moore.
Both Boutte and Moore will likely be factors in 2020, but I think it’ll be Moore that has the biggest impact for LSU.
