LSU Football: Why Myles Brennan often had to leave hotel room he shared with Joe Burrow
By Zach Ragan
Myles Brennan will be LSU football’s starting quarterback in 2020.
Myles Brennan has the unenviable task of following Joe Burrow as LSU football‘s starting quarterback in 2020.
After the season Burrow had in 2019 (5,671 passing yards, 60 touchdowns, and only six interceptions), there’s essentially no way Brennan will be able to stack up in comparison to the former Tiger (especially now that stud wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase won’t be playing in Baton Rouge this season).
But that’s okay. As LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said earlier this offseason, the Tigers just need Myles Brennan to be the best Myles Brennan he can be.
Fortunately for Brennan (and LSU), he was able to learn from an all-time great the past two seasons.
And while Brennan certainly learned plenty. He also had the opportunity to learn some things he didn’t necessarily want to learn.
Why Myles Brennan had to leave the hotel room he shared with Joe Burrow
The 2019 Tigers were Joe Burrow’s team. And Myles Brennan wanted to learn as much as he could from Burrow. The way to properly lead a team, how to read a defense, Brennan wanted to know it all.
That’s part of the reason why Brennan would share a hotel room before games with Burrow — a hotel room that Brennan sometimes had to leave.
That’s because football isn’t Burrow’s only interest. He’s a “nerd” (and I mean that as a compliment). He loves learning about history, UFOs, and aliens.
Brennan, however, is more into hunting. He’d rather be in the woods than sit through a lecture on whether or not we’re alone in the universe. It’s easy to see how there’s not a lot of overlap there.
According to The Athletic’s Brody Miller, Brennan would often leave the hotel room the two shared together because Burrow would be locked into watching National Geographic or Ancient Aliens).
I can’t blame Brennan. I couldn’t sit through that either.
But I love that Burrow is into that stuff. It just adds to the intrigue and mystique that surrounds the legendary former LSU quarterback.
Burrow’s play on the field is what makes him special. But his persona off the field is what makes Burrow one of the most interesting football players in the country.
