LSU football could be getting a visit in the very near future from one of their top 2021 recruiting targets.

LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron made it clear last month that he isn’t a fan of the unsanctioned visits that are taking place during the recruiting dead period (which currently runs through September 30, but will likely be extended).

“We have not done that. Obviously, we want to follow the rules,” said Orgeron last month when asked about visits during the recruiting dead period. “I’m not gonna comment on other stuff. Let’s see how the NCAA handles it, but I think it’s getting, it’s pushing the line a little bit.”

Of course, while Orgeron may not like the unsanctioned visits, he can’t do anything to stop them — even when they occur at LSU.

Players and their families are free to travel to any campus in the nation. They can check things out without any assistance from Coach O, his staff, or anyone associated with the program.

And there’s at least one key 2021 recruit who could be taking one of those visits to LSU in the not-so-distant future.

Five-star offensive lineman Tristan Leigh to visit LSU football?

2021 five-star offensive lineman Tristan Leigh is one of the Tigers’ top recruiting targets.

Leigh is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia and the No. 4 offensive tackle in the nation.

Numerous programs are obviously after Leigh. But LSU is one of the programs that’s a legitimate threat to land the dominant offensive lineman.

And a visit to Baton Rouge could certainly help.

247Sports writer Shea Dixon wrote this week that Leigh’s mom “has been working on plans to get them back to Baton Rouge together as a family for a visit, whether it’s a dead period or not”.

A visit from Leigh, even during the dead period when he can’t see everything he wants to see, would be huge for the Tigers.

I know Orgeron isn’t a fan of these visits, but I also don’t think he’ll be reaching out to Leigh to stop the visit, either. This is a player LSU needs to land and as long as no rules are broken, I see no issues here.
