LSU football is hoping to land a commitment from five-star defensive end Korey Foreman.

2021 five-star defensive end Korey Foreman is rated as the top recruit in the nation and LSU football is firmly in the mix to land him.

The Tigers, along with Clemson, Georgia, Oregon and USC appear to be the favorites to land Foreman.

LSU may have a slight edge in the pursuit for the dominant defensive end, thanks to Foreman’s existing relationship with five-star defensive tackle Maason Smith, a Louisiana native who is considered an LSU lean.

Foreman and Smith recently took a visit to Georgia together, which seemingly strengthened their relationship. The two defensive linemen have expressed a desire to play together in college. If that’s going to happen, LSU would probably be the most likely program to land both players (Foreman is from the west coast, so he has no geographical connection to Clemson or Georgia. With USC likely to move on from Clay Helton at some point, LSU makes the most sense.)

If the Tigers are able to land Foreman, they’ll be getting a player that has No. 1 overall NFL draft pick potential.

LSU football could be getting the next Chase Young

Rivals recruiting analyst Mike Farrell recently compared the top 2021 recruits in the nation to current NFL players and he made quite the comparison for Foreman.

Farrell suggested that Foreman could be the next Chase Young, the dominant Ohio State defensive end who was the defensive player of the year in 2019 (Young was the No. 2 selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, behind former Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow).

“This is hard to do, but I’ll throw it on Foreman (comparison to Young) because he’s good enough to reach this level. Both are big, athletic and can also overpower you,” wrote Farrell.

A Chase young type talent in a Bo Pelini defense, which is overlooked by Ed Orgeron, should be a scary thought for the rest of the SEC.

And with Smith on that same defensive line?

I can’t imagine being a quarterback and looking across the line of scrimmage and seeing those two five-star talents.

Next. Derek Stingley Jr doesn't get the respect he deserves. dark

If the Tigers can pull this off, they’ll have the most dominant defensive line in the nation.
