LSU football is recruiting at an extremely high level right now.

How hot is LSU football on the recruiting trail right now?

The Tigers are so hot that they have elite recruits viewing top programs like Texas and Texas A&M as “backup plans”.

2021 four-star defensive end Landon Jackson, a Texas native who committed to LSU in late April, recently spoke about his ongoing recruitment and he had some interesting things to say about the programs still recruiting him.

Jackson told Rivals that Texas and Texas A&M are the only programs still communicating with him. And Jackson admitted that he’s keeping in contact with the Longhorns and Aggies.

But it’s not because Jackson is considering decommitting from LSU.

LSU football is the more attractive option over Texas and Texas A&M.

Jackson told Rivals that he’s keeping in touch with Texas and Texas A&M simply to have some options in case something goes terribly wrong with the Tigers.

“I’m still talking to them — it’s really just for like last resort, something completely that goes wrong or something and then I have a backup plan — but right now I’m fully committed,” said Jackson.

I think this comment tells you everything you need to know about Ed Orgeron and his staff when it comes to recruiting.

The fact that a Texas native, someone who probably grew up seeing plenty of the Longhorns and the Aggies, views Texas and Texas A&M as nothing more than a “backup plan”, because of his commitment to LSU, shows the entire nation that LSU is THE place to be right now.

What should be scary for the rest of the SEC is that Coach O and the Tigers are really just getting started. LSU is on the verge of complete domination and I think we’re seeing a great example of that with how Jackson views the program.
