LSU Football: Tigers are the clear favorite to land elite 2021 offensive lineman
By Zach Ragan
LSU football appears to be the favorites to land an elite 2021 offensive lineman.
2021 five-star offensive lineman Tristan Leigh is one of the top uncommitted recruits in the nation and LSU football appears to be the favorite to land him.
Leigh, 6-foot-5/270 lbs from Fairfax, VA (Robinson Secondary), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia and the No. 4 offensive tackle in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 11 overall recruit in the nation.
The Virginia native visited Baton Rouge last weekend with numerous other top 2021 recruits, including four-star quarterback Garrett Nussmeier (already committed to LSU), five-star defensive tackle Maason Smith and five-star defensive end Korey Foreman (the No. 1 recruit in the nation).
Leigh reportedly really enjoyed the trip to Baton Rouge. Perhaps more importantly, so did his mother, according to 247Sports.
The trip went so well, in fact, that 247Sports writer Shea Dixon said he was feeling confident that LSU would be the program to land Leigh.
If Dixon felt that confident a week ago, he should feel even more confident after this weekend.
Leigh visits LSU football yet again
For the second week in a row, Leigh was in Baton Rouge to check out LSU.
247Sports reported on Sunday that Leigh returned to Baton Rouge this weekend with his girlfriend.
I think this speaks volumes about where the Tigers stand with Leigh. First off, the trip from Virginia to Baton Rouge isn’t just a two hour drive. It’s a long trip that takes a considerable amount of planning.
The fact that Leigh wanted to make that trip with his girlfriend, just a week after checking out the campus with other top recruits, should be a signal that LSU is a serious threat to land the talented offensive lineman.
I don’t know what will happen in the coming months. But I think it’s clear that LSU is at the top of Leigh’s list.
And that’s a good thing, because he’s one of the best 2021 offensive linemen in the nation.
