LSU football is in the final three for one of the top 2021 recruits in the nation.

LSU football, along with numerous other programs, is hoping to land a commitment from 2021 five-star defensive back Sage Ryan.

On Thursday, it was revealed by Rivals that Ryan is down to three programs — Alabama, Clemson, and LSU.

Ryan, 5-foot-11/193 lbs from Lafayette, LA (Lafayette Christian Academy), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 safety in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Louisiana. He’s also rated as the No. 28 overall recruit in the nation.

The dynamic safety is hoping to announce his decision as early as October.

LSU football should be considered the favorites to land Ryan

It’s hard for me to envision Ryan committing somewhere other than LSU. There’s just too much that connects Ryan to the Tigers.

Ryan is the nephew of former Tiger Trevor Faulk and the cousin of former LSU running back/current assistant Kevin Faulk. He’s also built a solid relationship with defensive backs coach Corey Raymond and head coach Ed Orgeron.

The Louisiana native recently visited LSU with a group of players that included four-star LSU quarterback commit Garrett Nussmeier and five-star Tigers targets Maason Smith and Korey Foreman.

“It went really good. I was glad I got to hang out with some of the top LSU recruits in the nation. It was a good experience what the college players do with their free time and their schedules and stuff,” said Ryan of the trip during an interview with Rivals.

Next. Arik Gilbert should be receiving a lot more hype. dark

Ryan is hoping to squeeze in some more visits before making his decision (he won’t be able to interact with any coaches on visits, due to the recruiting shutdown). Visits or no visits, I think LSU will emerge victorious in this recruiting battle.
