Could former LSU football wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr be on the move again?

If I’ve learned anything over the last couple of years it’s that Odell Beckham Jr trade rumors never truly die.

OBJ, who was traded to the Cleveland Browns by the New York Giants before the 2019 season, was the subject of various trade rumors throughout the offseason.

Those rumors, however, were seemingly put to rest when Browns chief strategy officer Paul DePosta said reports of a potential OBJ to Minnesota trade were “completely false”.

Well, one week into the 2020 season and it looks like the Beckham rumor mill is ready to be fired back up.

Odell Beckham Jr to the New England Patriots?

The Boston Herald’s Karen Guregian suggested in a column this week that the New England Patriots should bring OBJ to Foxborough.

“The Patriots should roll the dice, and gamble that Newton and OBJ will connect, and Beckham will return to prominence. Based on the podcast they did together after Newton signed with the Patriots, the two are friendly and at the very least, have connected off the field,” wrote Guregian.

This isn’t just a random idea being thrown out there by Guregian, either. There appears to be a legitimate chance that Cleveland elects to trade Beckham.

Guregian reported that there’s been speculation around the league that the Browns could move OBJ in a trade.

I think it’s clear that the Baker Mayfield/OBJ connection isn’t working out very well in Cleveland (Beckham had just three catches for 22 yards in the Browns’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens). A change of Scenery for Beckham probably wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Pairing Beckham with Cam Newton in New England, however, could be all the former LSU football wide receiver needs to resurrect his career.

Bill Belichick did it with Randy Moss in the late 2000s, there’s no reason to believe he can’t do it with OBJ.
