LSU Football: Tigers are in the mix for another 5-star duo
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is in the mix for numerous five-star players.
LSU football has been pursuing five-star defensive line duo Korey Foreman and Maason Smith all year, and it appears the Tigers have a good chance to landing the elite pair.
And that’s not the only five-star duo that LSU could be landing.
The Tigers are also reportedly in the mix for a pair of 2022 five-star offensive linemen.
247Sports’ Billy Embody reported on Monday that five-star offensive tackles Zach Rice and Gunner Givens are “toying” with the idea of playing together in college.
More five-star talent on the way for LSU football?
“LSU was among the many programs who were in touch right away when the contact period began and the Tigers have kept up the contact with each of them (Rice and Givens), talking consistently now that they’re allowed to be in touch with the juniors,” wrote Embody on Monday.
Rice, 6-foot-6/282 lbs, is from Lynchburg, VA. He’s rated as the No. 2 offensive tackle in the nation (247Sports composite).
Givens, 6-foot-6/275 lbs is from Daleville, VA. He’s rated as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation.
The elite offensive linemen duo live about an hour apart.
If the Tigers are able to land two of the top 2021 defensive linemen in 2021 (Foreman and Smith) and then the top two offensive linemen in 2022, then the rest of the SEC might as well give up trying to win in the trenches.
LSU is the place to be right now. Ed Orgeron has made Baton Rouge the hottest college destination in the nation for elite football players. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see the Tigers land Rice and Givens.
