LSU football is hoping to land the nation’s top-rated 2021 recruit.

I haven’t been shy lately about suggesting that LSU football is the team to beat for 2021 five-star defensive lineman Korey Foreman, the nation’s top-rated recruit.

And while nothing has happened lately that makes me feel otherwise, it appears it could be a while before the Tigers find out whether or not Foreman will spend his college career in Baton Rouge.

That’s because Foreman has decided to play his senior season, which starts in January, after all.

The California native initially planned to graduate early. However, because the recruiting dead period was extended through the end of 2020, Foreman has decided to play his senior season, with the hopes of taking some official visits after the calendar turns to 2021.

How will Foreman’s decision affect his timeline with LSU football?

Foreman recently told 247Sports that he still could make his decision at the All-American Bowl in January, but that’s far from a certainty.

“I could still make my decision at the All-American Bowl in January but I really want to take my time and get all my official visits in and if I do take visits,” said Foreman. “I won’t be able to do that until January at the earliest.”

Foreman is actually planning to visit LSU this weekend for the Tigers’ season-opener against Mississippi State. LSU can’t provide Foreman and his family with tickets, so it’s unlikely he’ll be able to get inside Tiger Stadium for the game (though I wouldn’t rule out tickets somehow ended up in Foreman’s pocket).

Official visits could change everything. And Georgia is still very much in the mix here. But I still think the Tigers will ultimately prevail in this recruiting battle.
