LSU Football: Myles Brennan is exactly what we thought he was before the season
By Zach Ragan
LSU football’s Myles Brennan was able to get the Tigers in the win column this week.
Prior to the start of the 2020 season, I felt like LSU football‘s Myles Brenan was a quarterback who was capable of eventually being a first-round draft pick.
After the first two weeks of the season, I feel even more certain Brennan will be a first-round pick.
Now, do I think he’s going to be the undisputed first overall pick in the draft like Joe Burrow was?
Probably not.
But he’s going to be a highly sought after player in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Why LSU football quarterback Myles Brennan has a bright NFL future
We’ve always known that Brennan has a cannon for an arm.
In fact, Brennan has a much better arm than Burrow.
But simply having a good arm isn’t good enough to be an early-round draft pick. We’ve seen plenty of quarterbacks with big arms fail to make an impact in the NFL (looking at you, former Tennessee Vols quarterback Tyler Bray).
Brennan has proved over the first two weeks of the season, though, that he’s more than a big arm.
The redshirt junior signal-caller had numerous improvements to make after the Tigers’ season-opening loss to Mississippi State. And it appears he made those improvements in the win against Vanderbilt.
One of those improvements was getting rid of the ball quicker and not taking sacks (Brennan was sacked 0 times against Vandy).
Brennan ended up tossing for 337 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.
Sure, it was against Vandy — a team that’s not exactly the class of the SEC. But it was still important to see that improvement from Brennan.
And the fact he was able to make those improvements in only a week is what impressed me.
Brennan has a bright future. Not just at LSU, but his football future in general.
But before Brennan gets to the NFL, I have a feeling he’s going to do some special things in Baton Rouge.
