LSU Football: Recruiting analyst predicts where nation’s No. 1 2021 recruit will land
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is hoping to land the nation’s top-rated 2021 recruit.
LSU football, along with nearly every other major program in the nation, is strongly pursuing 2021 five-star defensive end Korey Foreman.
In fact, I feel confident in saying that Foreman is the Tigers’ top recruiting target.
And for good reason.
Foreman, 6-foot-4/265 lbs from Corona, CA (Centennial), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 overall recruit in the nation.
247Sports national writer Charles Power says Foreman “has the skill set to be an ideal edge-setting strong-side defensive end”, while also noting that the five-star defensive end “could potentially reach the size where he could play multiple spots along the defensive line depending on scheme and down and distance”.
Power also notes that Foreman “projects as a multi-year impact starter at the Power Five level with the upside to develop into a first-round NFL Draft pick”.
Will LSU football land Korey Foreman?
I haven’t been shy about my belief that LSU will ultimately be the program to land Foreman.
My main reason for feeling that way is the relationship between Foreman and five-star defensive lineman Maason Smith. The elite duo is planning to play together in college. And for now, LSU is considered a heavy favorite to land Smith (a Louisiana native).
But what do the recruiting analysts think?
Well, 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong and 247Sports writer Greg Biggins feel like Foreman is destined to end up in Baton Rouge.
“I feel good about LSU for Foreman as things stand now for a lot of reasons,” said Wiltfong (via 247Sports).
“Two visits to Baton Rouge during the pandemic including for a game gave Foreman a sense of what a potential future for him looks like at the SEC program. I think the family is really comfortable with the atmosphere.”
Landing Foreman (which would mean also landing Smith) would obviously be an impressive get for the Tigers.
There’s still a long way to go in Foreman’s recruitment, but it certainly appears that LSU is the team to beat.
