LSU football appears to be fading for an elite five-star recruit.

LSU football is among the top three programs (along with Oklahoma and Ohio State) for five-star offensive lineman Tristan Leigh, but it appears the Tigers are fading in his recruitment.

Leigh, 6-foot-5/270 lbs from Fairfax, VA (Robinson Secondary), recently gave Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Friedman an update on his recruitment and he had plenty to say.

The dominant offensive tackle told Friedman that he’s hoping to take a trip to Ohio State this coming weekend. Leigh has visited LSU and Oklahoma in recent months.

LSU and Oklahoma have struggled a bit this season, but that doesn’t appear to be deterring Leigh from either program.

The bad news for the Tigers, however, is the strong relationship that Leigh has built with Caleb Williams, a five-star quarterback who’s committed to the Sooners. That relationship may be too much for LSU to overcome.

Can LSU football make up ground on Oklahoma?

“I’ve really been seeing Oklahoma’s recruiting picking up with some other guys and with me,” said Leigh to Rivals. “It’s not just Caleb but you really see what they have to offer and you see it’s a good place to be. I’m not really discouraged by this season. You’ve seen that they can get to the Playoff because they’ve been doing it.”

Leigh also commented on LSU, but it wasn’t nearly as glowing.

“Nothing is really new with LSU,” said Leigh. “Coach Cregg and I are talking on the phone. Coach O and I have been on the phone too.”

After talking with Leigh, Friedman is predicting that Oklahoma will land the five-star offensive lineman. And if the Sooners don’t? Friedman thinks it will be Ohio State.

“For now at least, my FutureCase pick is on Oklahoma but that could change after the trip to Ohio State if all goes well for the Buckeyes,” wrote Friedman.

LSU can still make up some ground here, but it’s going to require the Tigers looking a lot better on the field for the rest of the season.

Leigh doesn’t have a current date for his commitment announcement.
