LSU Football: Top 5 Tigers wide receivers of all time
By Zach Ragan
5. Justin Jefferson — 2017-2019
I might be accused of recency bias here, but I’m not sure how anyone could exclude Justin Jefferson from this list.
Sure, Jefferson had the benefit of playing in one of the most prolific offenses in college football history. But let’s not forget that Jefferson had to fight Ja’Marr Chase, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Thaddeus Moss, and Terrace Marshall Jr, among others, for targets.
I think that makes Jefferson’s stats even more impressive.
In three seasons at LSU (really just two, since he barely played in 2017), Jefferson caught 165 passes for 2,415 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Pretty impressive.
Jefferson is No. 6 all-time in receiving yards at LSU. His yardage total of 1,540 yards in 2019 is the third-best season in Tigers history. And his 227 yards against Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff semifinal in 2019 is the sixth-highest yardage total for a wide receiver at LSU in a single game.
No doubt that Jefferson is one of the five best wide receivers of all-time at LSU. Had he been in Baton Rouge for four years, he would likely be near the very top of this list.
