LSU Football: Top 5 Tigers wide receivers of all time
By Zach Ragan
2. Ja’Marr Chase — 2018-2019
Get out of here with your recency bias talk if that’s what you’re screaming right now.
Ja’Marr Chase is one of the greatest college football wide receivers of all time, so of course he’s on this list.
What Chase did in 2019 was simply absurd.
84 receptions. 1,780 yards. 20 touchdowns.
Insane.
To put that in perspective, Chase’s 20 touchdowns in one season are as many as Early Doucet had in four seasons at LSU (Doucet is No. 6 on LSU’s all-time career receiving touchdowns list).
Chase’s 1,780 receiving yards are the most ever in a season at LSU. His 84 receptions in 2019 are the third-most in a season at LSU. And his 20 touchdowns are the most ever in a season at LSU.
Oh, and Chase has three of the ten best single-game receiving totals in LSU history (with one of those games coming against Clemson in the national championship game).
Just imagine if Chase would’ve had one more full season at LSU. My goodness, those numbers would’ve been unbelievable.
