LSU Football: Top 5 Tigers wide receivers of all time
By Zach Ragan
1. Josh Reed — 1999-2001
Sometimes I forget just how good Josh Reed was at LSU.
He was ridiculous.
Here’s how Reed’s career numbers stack up at LSU.
- Career receptions: No. 4 (167)
- Career yards: No. 1 (3,001)
- Receiving Touchdowns: No. 10 (17)
Reed also has the record for most receptions (19) and receiving yards (293) in a game (2001 against Alabama).
The game against Alabama in 2001 is a great example of what made Reed so special. He had a mode where he became simply unstoppable. Everyone in the stadium knew he was getting the ball and there was nothing that could be done about it.
Now, here’s where it gets crazy — Reed put up those insane numbers in basically just two seasons. Reed was mainly used as a running back in his freshman season, which obviously limited his receiving opportunities.
Wild.
Reed was truly special. I’d love to see what he could’ve done in LSU’s 2019 offense.
