Former LSU football wide receiver Justin Jefferson is already making a huge impact in the NFL.

Heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, there were plenty of questions surrounding former LSU football wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Plenty of draft pundits questioned Jefferson’s speed and whether or not he was anything more than a slot receiver.

Jefferson put an end to the questions about his speed by running a 4.43 in the 40-yard dash at the combine.

That impressive 40 time, however, wasn’t enough to vault Jefferson into the top 15 of the 2020 NFL Draft. The former Tigers standout was selected with the No. 23 overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings.

Jefferson was the fifth wide receiver selected, behind Henry Ruggs, Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Jalen Reagor.

Some of the teams that passed on Jefferson could end up regretting that decision.

Justin Jefferson is on a historic pace with the Minnesota Vikings

Through the first six games of the 2020 season, Jefferson is the highest graded rookie wide receiver ever (according to Pro Football Focus).

No one has ever been better as a rookie wide receiver through the first six games of their career. That includes players like Calvin Johnson, who was extremely impressive as a rookie.

In six games this season, Jefferson has 28 receptions for 537 yards and three touchdowns.

Not bad for a guy who is a slowish slot receiver that just happened to play in the greatest college football offense of all time (insert eye roll emoji here).

Kudos to the Vikings for looking beyond Jefferson’s role in LSU’s offense last season and instead looking at his actual talent.

Jefferson is going to be a solid wide receiver in the NFL for years to come. His quick start in 2020 is just the beginning for the Louisiana native.
