Houston Astros 3B Alex Bregman proves he can’t handle the heat

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman proved this week he can’t handle the heat.

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman went through plenty of struggles in 2020.

The former LSU baseball star hit a career-low .242 in 42 games. Bregman homered just six times and drove in 22 runs.

It wasn’t a great showing for Bregman — especially after the Astros cheating scandal that was the talk of the sports world this past winter (before COVID-19 started dominating the headlines).

I’m not sure why Bregman struggled on the field. But I’m sure he’ll return to his previous form in 2021 — he’s simply too good.

But regardless of what happens on the field with Bregman in 2021, there’s something we know about him off the field that won’t change.

Bregman can’t handle the heat.

Alex Bregman does the hot chip challenge and it doesn’t go well

If you’re on social media much, you’ve likely seen various forms of the “hot chip challenge”.

It’s what it sounds like. Basically, whoever is being filmed eats one insanely hot chip (usually something that involves a ghost pepper or a Carolina reaper pepper) and then proceeds to sweat profusely with wide eyes while guzzling water (which never helps).

Bregman recently did the challenge and it went as expected — he couldn’t handle it.

I haven’t tried this challenge yet and I think it’s safe to say I have absolutely no desire to try it.

Look, if an all-star third baseman — someone who is used to staring down 100 mph fastballs — can’t pull it off, then there’s absolutely no way I can.

Kudos to Bregman for trying, though. He took a big swing at the challenge. But just like he often did in 2020, he struck out.
