LSU football is among the top programs for an elite safety.

2021 four-star safety Terrion Arnold revealed his top five schools this week and LSU football made the cut.

Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Texas A&M are the other programs in Arnold’s top five.

Arnold, 6-foot/180 lbs from Tallahassee, FL (John Paul II Catholic), is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 safety in the nation and the No. 6 player in the state of Florida. He’s also rated as the No. 26 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

Florida State didn’t make Arnold’s top five, but it’s certainly possible the Seminoles could jump back into this recruiting battle.

Where does LSU football stand in the battle for Arnold?

Florida is the program that Arnold has visited the most, so it’s reasonable to suggest that the Gators are the team to beat here.

Arnold, however, does speak highly of LSU.

“LSU is DBU, and their track record speaks for itself,” said Arnold this week to Rivals. “They produce defensive backs, they prepare guys for the NFL, and some greats have come through there. Playing my position, it is hard not to look at LSU.”

The Tigers are always going to be a factor for elite defensive backs. But I’m not sure LSU is going to be able to overtake Florida or Alabama in this battle (Arnold has also visited Alabama multiple times, while only visiting Baton Rouge once).

Of course, you never say never in recruiting. These battles can (and do) change at a moments’ notice.

Arnold isn’t planning to commit until February 3, so LSU has plenty of time to make a run at the talented defensive back.
