LSU football’s tough season isn’t hurting chances with nation’s top recruit

LSU football is hoping to land a commitment from the top recruit in the nation.
LSU football, much like every other program in the nation, is hoping to land a commitment from 2021 five-star defensive end Korey Foreman.
Foreman, 6-foot-4/265 lbs from Corona, CA (Centennial), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 2021 recruit in the nation.
The Tigers, unlike some of the other programs pursuing Foreman, actually have a legitimate shot in this recruiting battle. LSU is one of the few programs that Foreman is seriously considering.
Clemson, Georgia, and USC are also in the mix to land Foreman.
Where does LSU football stand in the battle for Foreman?
LSU hasn’t played very well this season, but so far that hasn’t had a negative impact on recruiting (the Tigers currently have the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation).
And it doesn’t look like it’s going to have an impact on Foreman’s upcoming decision.
“I know they’re not having the same success as last year but that doesn’t bother me at all,” said Foreman to 247Sports this week. “For me, it just shows how great they actually are.”
“They lost their OC and DC, several players left early and others opted out. They were able to do that because of how great the program is. They have so much young talent on the roster right now.”
Foreman is planning to be in Baton Rouge for LSU’s matchup against Alabama this weekend. He is then planning on signing during the early signing period. Foreman isn’t going to reveal his decision, however, until January 2 (at the All-American Bowl ceremony).
Getting one of the final visits before the early signing period will be huge for the Tigers.
Will it be enough to land the top player in the nation, though?
We’ll just have to wait and see. But LSU certainly appears to be in good shape here.
