LSU football appears to be the favorite to land a 2021 offensive lineman from Florida.

Earlier on Monday, I mentioned how it was impressive that LSU football was able to keep 2021 three-star offensive lineman Kimo Makaneole from signing with Florida State during the early signing period.

It now appears that LSU is the favorite to land Makaneole.

The Florida native, who is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 28 offensive guard in the nation and the No. 73 player in the state of Florida, decommited from the Seminoles on Monday evening.

Makaneole revealed the decision in a tweet on Monday.

“I have researched and gathered as much information to complete the difficult task of narrowing down my list of schools,” wrote Makaneole. “Being that I have the greatest respect for you and your program; I am informing you now that I am looking elsewhere to go to school and compete.”

Will LSU football be the destination for Makaneole?

With Makaneole’s decision to decommit from Florida State, it seems obvious that LSU is the frontrunner to land the talented offensive lineman.

Makaneole told Rivals this week that Florida State and LSU are his top two programs.

I’m not the best at math, but two minus one is one. And that one appears to be LSU (though it’s certainly possible that another program could jump into the mix).

The Tigers have 20 players signed to its 2021 recruiting class and one other player committed.

Only one of the players currently in LSU’s 2021 class is an offensive lineman (four-star offensive tackle Garrett Dellinger), so it makes sense that Ed Orgeron would like to add at least one more offensive lineman.

Next. The OC hire LSU fans can forget about. dark

Makaneole is planning to sign in February.
