LSU football is a potential landing spot for five-star defensive end Korey Foreman.

LSU football would love to land five-star defensive end Korey Foreman.

And so would everyone else.

Foreman, 6-foot-4/265 lbs from Corona, CA (Centennial), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

The California native committed to Clemson last January, but he decommitted in April.

At one point in the fall, LSU was the favorite to land Foreman.

With his decision set to be revealed this weekend, are the Tigers still the team to beat?

LSU football has stiff competition for Foreman

One of the reasons that LSU was viewed as a favorite for Foreman in the fall was because of his relationship with five-star defensive tackle Maason Smith, who signed with LSU during the early signing period.

It was well documented that Foreman and Smith wanted to play with each other in college.

But that didn’t mean the duo would be a package deal.

In recent months, USC, Foreman’s hometown school, has surged to the front of this recruiting battle.

And The Athletic’s Ari Wasserman, who covers recruiting, is predicting that Foreman will announce that he’ll be playing for the Trojans.

“USC is considered the favorite to land the can’t-miss pass rusher, though we won’t know for sure until he makes his announcement,” wrote Wasserman.

It would be a surprise if LSU managed to land Foreman with the way things have transpired over the last month.

Foreman’s relationship with Smith, however, does at least give the Tigers a fighting chance.
