Former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow is hoping to be ready for the start of the 2021 season.

Joe Burrow proved almost immediately this season that he was deserving of the hype that surrounded him prior to the 2020 NFL Draft.

The former LSU football signal-caller got off to a hot start in 2020, passing for over 300 yards in five of his first seven games (including a game against the Cleveland Browns where he passed for 406 yards).

Unfortunately for Burrow, his rookie season came to a premature end after suffering a torn ACL against the Washington Football Team.

Burrow’s injury occurred in late November, which could make it difficult for him to be ready by the start of the 2021 season.

Joe Burrow isn’t messing around in his rehab

While the timeline will be close for Burrow to return in time for the start of the 2021 season, it appears more likely than not that the former Tiger will be ready.

Burrow recently released a video where he’s walking on his surgically repaired knee.

When you combine that video with recent comments from his surgeon, it certainly sounds like Burrow will be the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals on opening day next season.

“When you say he’s on track (to be ready for the start of 2021 season), there’s just a few criteria you look for,” said Burrow’s surgeon during a recent appearance on Adam Schefter’s podcast. “What I can say is that everything that has come our way this year, even though they’ve been very complex, I’m extremely happy with what we’ve been able to do and we’ve fixed it in a way that I’m confident they’ll be able to play again.”

Burrow’s father added to the optimism earlier this month during an interview on 104.5 in Baton Rouge.

“He’s attacking that (physical therapy), just like he did preparation for a game, all indications things are going great,” said Burrow’s father (via Bengals Wire). “He’s looking forward to getting back with the Bengals for the first game next year. He’s in constant contact with teammates and coaches.”

There aren’t many players who work harder than Burrow. I’d be shocked if he’s not ready for the start of the 2021 season.
