LSU football fans should be rooting against Joe Brady right now

Joe Brady will always be special to LSU football, but fans shouldn’t be cheering for him right now.

LSU football made two great hires on Wednesday.

The Tigers hired Carolina Panthers quarterbacks coach Jake Peetz and Panthers analyst DJ Mangas to serve as LSU’s new offensive coordinator and passing game coordinator, respectively.

Former LSU passing game coordinator Joe Brady, who is currently the Panthers’ offensive coordinator, recommended Peetz and Mangas to Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron.

I think the hires are brilliant. Peetz and Mangas can bring a Brady-like vibe to the offense in 2021. LSU has the pieces to be dangerous — they just need Peetz and Mangas to put it together.

Sounds like LSU fans should thank Brady, right?

Probably.

But it’s also possible they could be mad at Brady in the not-so-distant future

Could Joe Brady end up stealing Peetz and Mangas back?

Brady is going to be a head coach in the NFL.

I don’t know when it will happen, but it’s going to happen.

In fact, there’s a chance it could happen in the next couple of days.

Brady received requests from the Falcons, Texans, and Chargers this week to interview for their vacant head coaching jobs.

There are plenty of other names garnering interest among the teams with openings, so it’s possible that Brady doesn’t get a head coaching job until next offseason.

But it’s also possible a team goes ahead and pulls the trigger on Brady now.

If that happens, it seems likely that Brady could come after Peetz or Mangas (or maybe both).

247Sports’ Shea Dixon reported on Wednesday that LSU asked Brady who he would hire as an offensive coordinator and passing game coordinator if he was a head coach.

Peetz and Mangas were the names he gave.

Next. Can LSU land Marcus Freeman?. dark

Who knows how things would play out if Brady ends up getting hired as a head coach, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he brought one (or both) of LSU’s new assistants with him.
