LSU football’s 2021 coaching staff is going to be great.

LSU football officially replaced offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger and passing game coordinator Scott Linehan on Wednesday.

The Tigers hired Carolina Panthers quarterbacks coach Jake Peetz to serve as their offensive coordinator and Panthers analyst DJ Mangas to serve as passing game coordinator.

Mangas was previously at LSU in 2019 with Joe Brady.

Peetz, who will turn 38 in April, is a Nebraska graduate that’s been coaching since 2006. He’s spent time at Alabama under Nick Saban. Peetz also has extensive NFL experience. He’s been with the Washington Football Team, the Oakland Raiders, and, of course, the Panthers.

“We are excited about the opportunity that Coach O has given us to move our family to Baton Rouge and be a part of the LSU football family,” said Peetz in a statement.

Mangas also released a statement, saying “I’m beyond excited for the opportunity to be back in Baton Rouge and coaching for LSU and Coach Orgeron”.

“It fires me up to see the potential we have for the 2021 offense,” added Mangas.

LSU football’s offense will be better in 2021 because of these hires

Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron made it clear this week that he wanted LSU to get back to the offense the Tigers ran in 2019.

This hire will accomplish that.

Mangas has been described as Brady’s “right-hand man” and Peetz obviously worked closely with Brady in Charlotte this season.

If there’s anyone in football that can carry the torch from Brady, it’s Peetz and Mangas.

The Tigers’ offense has a lot of potential in 2021. And I think these are the right coaches to help LSU reach its full potential.
