LSU football is in the mix to land an elite cornerback from Florida.

LSU football is one of several programs in the mix to land a 2023 four-star cornerback from Florida.

Treyaun Webb, 6-foot/180 lbs from Jacksonville, FL, committed to Georgia in late 2019.

On Saturday, Webb announced that he’s no longer committed to the Bulldogs.

“I love Georgia, and I am still loving Georgia, but I just need to take more time,” said Webb to Rivals.

“Georgia was my dream school, it still is, so this was a tough decision for me. I am still looking at Georgia hard, they are still one of my top schools, but I am uncommitted now and more open.”

LSU football should have a legitimate chance to land Webb

Webb obviously isn’t going to make his college decision based on emotion. He’s taking a step back and seeing what the best business decision would be.

That’s something that bodes well for LSU.

Webb, who is ranked as the No. 4 athlete in the nation in 247Sports’ composite rankings (and the No. 32 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class), has a bright future as a defensive back.

And that’s why his comments about LSU are telling.

“With LSU, it is DBU, and they have told me they like me on both sides of the ball,” explained Webb. “I have been talking to coach Raymond, and he has coached some great defensive backs.”

There’s obviously a long way to go in Webb’s recruitment. But LSU should be a consistent factor until he makes a final decision.

Florida and Georgia are the likely favorites right now, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see LSU become a real threat to land the talented cornerback.
