Luke Fickell — Cincinnati head coach

Luke Fickell is going to be a hot name in coaching searches if he has another great season in 2021.

The former Ohio State offensive lineman has been the head coach at Cincinnati since 2017. He’s 35-14 so far.

Cincinnati went 9-1 this past season. The Bearcats’ only loss was against Georgia in the Peach Bowl (Cincy lost on a field goal with just seconds remaining in the game).

Fickell is obviously a name that would make sense for Ohio State at some point. But Ryan Day isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Would Fickell want a job in the Big 10 where he has to play against his alma mater every season?

Or would he prefer to land in the SEC?

If the answer to the second question is yes, then I can’t think of a better landing spot than LSU. Fickell would need some assistants with LSU ties to help navigate recruiting in Louisiana, but otherwise, I think he could find a lot of success in Baton Rouge.
