Urban Meyer — Jacksonville Jaguars head coach

Wouldn’t this be wild?

And before you start saying there’s absolutely no way, let me explain my thought process.

Meyer just took a job in the NFL. He’s never worked in the NFL before. For that reason, there’s plenty of doubt that he’ll actually be successful in the NFL.

We’ve seen plenty of great college football coaches fail in the NFL. Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier are the two most well-known successful college football coaches that tried to make the jump. It didn’t work out and they quickly returned to the college game.

I could see a similar situation with Meyer.

If Meyer fails in the NFL, I can’t see him retiring and letting that be the final chapter of his coaching career.

I think he’d return to college football to win a championship or two and go out on a winning note.

If that happens, then LSU would be the perfect spot for him. Meyer isn’t going to go somewhere that requires a total rebuild. And he’s not going to go somewhere where it’s hard to recruit.

LSU has great in-state talent and it’s in the SEC.

It would absolutely be an ideal situation for Meyer.
