LSU football landed a commitment from an under-the-radar 2022 defensive back on Wednesday.

Marcus Scott tweeted that he’s officially committed to the Tigers.

“This is a dream come true to announce I am 100 percent committed to Louisiana State University to play in the SEC,” tweeted Scott. “My daddy taught me that nobody will give me anything and I gotta earn EVERYTHING.”

Scott, 6-foot-2/170 lbs from The Woodlands, TX (College Park), hasn’t been rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings.

An under-the-radar get for LSU football

Just because Scott, who visited Baton Rouge this week, hasn’t been rated by the major recruiting services doesn’t mean he isn’t an important pickup for the Tigers.

The latest LSU commit only has three reported offers according to this 247Sports profile (LSU, Houston, and UNLV), but it’s clear the Ed Orgeron and his staff like what they see.

So what are the Tigers getting?

Scott’s high school head coach Lonnie Madison says Scott is a “tall, rangy kid”.

“He’s a track kid,” said Madison (via The Courier). “He’s done a great job all year defending deep balls and he’s a guy we can count on each week to cover at a high level.”

Scott has the height/length to be a starting cornerback in the SEC. And the fact that he runs track tells us he probably has the speed, too.

Now that Scott is committed to LSU, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s quickly elevated to three-star status. And he might even get elevated higher as recruiting services evaluate him over the next year.

LSU currently has eight players committed to its 2022 recruiting class.
