Enai White is one of the nation’s top 2022 recruits and LSU football is in the mix to land him.

White, 6-foot-5/230 lbs from Philadelphia, PA (Imhotep Institute), recently told 247Sports that he’s keeping in touch with about 13 programs, including LSU.

The Tigers don’t currently have a defensive line coach, but that’s not hurting their chances with White, thanks to the presence of LSU head coach Ed Orgeron.

“I usually get on the phone with Coach O, and then we talk for a little bit,” said White to 247Sports. “He always says that he needs me. Every time I get on there, he always says something funny, like, ‘We need you,’ with a (deep) voice.”

LSU football will have plenty of competition for White

It’s easy to see why so many programs are interested in White.

The Pennsylvania native is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 weakside defensive end in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Pennsylvania. He’s also rated as the No. 29 overall 2022 recruit in the nation.

Florida, Ohio State, and Penn State appear to be the Tigers’ top competition for White.

USC is also strongly in the mix.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn notes that White “gets off quickly at snap” and “runs well and chases the backside”. Dohn also says White “can disengage and find ballcarrier”.

According to Dohn, White projects as a “multi-year starter at top 20 program” with “early-round NFL Draft potential”.

Dohn says the NFL comparison for White is Jason Pierre-Paul, a former first-round draft selection.
