LSU Football: Tigers among top programs for 3-star RB
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is one of the programs to beat for a 2022 three-star running back from Mississippi.
Brandon Robinson, who is rated as one of the top players in Mississippi, recently pointed out to Rivals the four teams that are at the top of his list.
Robinson indicated that LSU, Alabama, Georgia, and Orgeron are the programs that are currently recruiting him the hardest.
The Mississippi native isn’t rated among the elite recruits in the nation (No. 414 overall in 247Sports’ composite rankings), but it’s clear from the teams interested in him that he’s viewed by college programs as an extremely talented running back.
LSU football has plenty of competition in this recruiting battle.
It appears that this battle is wide open at the moment. Robinson doesn’t seem to have a leader among his current top four.
That means LSU is still very much in the mix.
“I get to talk to Coach Ed Orgeron every time I get on the phone with Coach D’Angelo,” said Robinson recently (via Rivals). “He also has a great relationship with my trainer (and former Ole Miss player under Oregon) Shay Hodge.”
“Coach O has great energy and has the most unique (voice) I’ve ever heard,” added Robinson.
The connection between Robinson’s trainer and Orgeron is something that could give LSU the edge in this recruiting battle.
That might be necessary when going up against Alabama for a running back (those are hard recruiting battles to win).
There’s obviously a long to go before this recruiting battle is decided. I wouldn’t be surprised to see other programs get in the mix, too (likely Ole Miss and Mississippi State).
But I like the Tigers’ chances here. They’re in it as much as any other program at the moment.
