LSU Football recruiting target set to announce college decision

One of LSU football‘s top 2021 recruiting targets is four-star linebacker Raesjon Davis, who is set to announce his college decision on National Signing Day.
Davis, who is rated as a top 50 player in the nation, will reveal his college choice on National Signing Day on CBS Sports HQ at 10:30 AM CT/11:30 AM ET.
According to 247Sports, Davis is one of only three top 50 players that is waiting until the traditional National Signing Day to announce his decision.
Davis, 6-foot-1/215 lbs, has a top-five of LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, and Vanderbilt.
Where does LSU football stand for Davis?
Davis originally committed to LSU on January 1, 2020. He de-committed from the Tigers on December 21, 2020.
“Tiger nation thank you for everything,” said Davis in a tweet last month. “I have had some great memories in such little time. As of now, I would like to decommit from LSU and explore each of my options thoroughly.”
Davis is obviously a player that Ed Orgeron would love to have in Baton Rouge.
But unfortunately, I don’t see it happening.
USC seems to be the clear leader for Davis at this point. The Trojans have several advantages in this battle. The most obvious is geography — Davis’s hometown of Santa Ana is only 45 minutes from USC.
Unsurprisingly, Davis grew up rooting for the Trojans.
“Growing up, I was a big USC fan, my whole family was and I know they would be happy to see me stay close to home and play for USC,” said Davis recently to 247Sports.
The only program I see that has a real chance here is Ohio State — the Buckeyes have been pushing hard for Davis lately.
I just don’t see LSU winning this one. I think Davis committed when the Tigers were the “it” team in college football. As time has passed, I think he’s decided that remaining close to home is in his best interest.
