LSU football received some great news on Saturday evening.

2022 four-star offensive tackle Will Campbell announced his commitment to the Tigers.

Campbell committed to LSU over offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, and TCU (among many others).

The Louisiana native is ranked as the No. 6 offensive tackle in the nation.

“LSU has an edge on everybody,” said Campbell to Rivals after committing. “It’s who I grew up watching and it’s so close to home. Some other schools did make a push, but this is the best spot for me.”

“It’s always been LSU. I’ve always been an LSU fan. The recruiting process opened my eyes and made me look at some other things and some schools caught my eye, but this is the best fit for me.”

LSU football got a lot better with the addition of Campbell

To win in the SEC, you have to dominate the line of scrimmage.

And players like Campbell can help the Tigers achieve that goal.

The 6-foot-6/285 lb offensive lineman is athletic with quick feet, but he plays mean. The mean factor is what makes Campbell so dangerous.

“I’m a nice, chill guy off the field, but when I step between the lines the switch flips,” explained Campbell (via Rivals). “Then, I’m the mean guy you don’t want to line up in front of. I go 100-percent every play and I’ll be mean, physical and fast.”

The Tigers got a lot better on Saturday with Campbell’s commitment. He should have a solid career in Baton Rouge before he likely embarks on an NFL career down the road.

LSU’s 2022 recruiting class now has eight commits. It’s ranked No. 4 in the nation and No. 2 in the SEC.
