EA Sports College Football appears to be coming back.

This is not a drill.

The official EA Sports Twitter account revealed the bombshell news on Tuesday afternoon via tweet that said “For those who never stopped believing…”, along with an image that simply said, “College football is coming back”.

If you’ve spent much time on Twitter, you’ve likely seen college football fans pining for the return of the iconic game that was discontinued in 2014 (due to legal reasons).

It’s unclear what kind of format the game will feature, or whether or not it will be exactly like the 2014 version of the game, but this is still great news nonetheless.

The moment that EA Sports dropped the news on Tuesday, social media starting buzzing about the return of the fan-favorite video game.

Including former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow.

Burrow, who was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals after an amazing 2019 season at LSU, had a hilarious response to the return of the game.

“All I ever wanted was to be on the cover of this game and as soon as I graduate they bring it back,” tweeted Burrow.

If EA Sports is smart, they’ll put Burrow on the first cover of the new version of the game.

Burrow’s 2019 season was the greatest season ever by a college quarterback. If anyone deserves to be on the cover, it’s him.

Of course, I imagine that Burrow, like the rest of us, is just happy to know that the game we’ve all been missing will soon be back in our lives.

It’s about time.
